                                                                BALLOON RELEASE HINTS AND IDEAS

With over 20 years in the balloon industry we have a great deal of experience in every balloon event they include 1000s of Races, Releases and Drops.

A Balloon Release is an excellent way of fundraising or simply just to mark an event Schools, Charities, Community Groups and many more will run balloon releases as a way to make money as they are highly profitable. Always try and get local companies involved by offering them their logo or name printed on the race ticket or the balloon in excange for paying part or all of the cost of the balloon kit. Try and get the local press involved for a picture shoot of the release and then if you can get a celebrity to release the balloons you might even get the daily papers to take photos. Get a sponsor involved to donate a prize in exchange for there name on the ticket. Why not have a banner advertising the eventwith the sponsors name on we can supply banners at a very competitive price

We strongly reccomend that you sell as many tickets as possible before the event always sell for a £1 each as people can always find a pound but they might not find £.50 or £2 as easily. Place posters around the event promoting the release prior to the event itself. Sort out plenty of people to help you on the day this enable you to have people going round selling tickets whilst you are getting organised

For Inflating, tying the balloon, putting the tickets onto the balloon and placing in the net we suggest at least 3 people for a 200 release this would mean 1 person inflating, 1 person tying the balloon and the 3rd person putting the ballons into the net and ensuring they do not escape, for a 500 race we would suggest 6 people and so on. Inflate the balloons no more than 3 hours prior to the releaseand always ensure you keep them out of the Sunby placing them in the shade whilst waiting to release them.

Day of the Balloon Release

Ensure you have all the balloons, tickets and helium together with the helium valve on site. Fix the helium cylinder to a secure point so it cannot fall and injure someone, the open up the net fully on the ground and ti the bottom end to something strong on the ground eg Bench, Car Bumper, Fence etc.

Inflate a balloon and tie a knot in itand then carefully push the knot and the collar of the balloon through the hole in the ticket which then holds itself into position on the balloon. Do not use plastic valves, string or ribbon as they are not BIODEGRADABLE you then place the balloon and ticket into the net.

It always helps the atmosphere if you have a countdown as you about to release the balloons. Next you await the return of the tickets they normally start to arrive a week after the launchand depending on where they have landed (many will go accross the channel) and those can take up to 3 or 4 weeks to return so it is a good idea if possible to have a final return date of at least a month following the release.

Always ensure you tidy up after the event removing all litter this prevents you from getting a bad name and possible problems in the future.

NEVER RELEASE METALLIC FOIL BALLOONS AS THEY ARE NOT BIODEGRADABLE AND ALSO MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD POWER LINES

ONLY USE BIODEGRADABLE BALLOONS THAT ARE MADE FROM PURE LATEX WHICH IS A NATURAL MATERIAL MADE FROM TREE SAP WHICH OURS ARE

IF YOU ARE RELEASING MORE THAN 5000 BALLOONS YOU WILL NEED TO OBTAIN CIVIL AVIATION PERMISSION.

Balloon Releases are ideal for School's, charities and other organisation for raising money why not get local companies to sponsor you and inreturn you can put their name on the race ticket (we do that without an extra charge) - Try to get the local press involved with photos

ENSURE YOU NEVER INFLATE THE BALLOONS OVER 10 inches IF YOU DO THEY WILL NOT ALL FIT IN THE NET

Normally on release a balloon can rise to 26000 feet it usually then becomes brittle in the cold atmosphere and shatters and falls back to earth in tiny pieces that are decomposed by natural gas and microorganisms thereby starting the biodegrading. however the ticket comes down whole so this can be found and returned to the organiser.

Occasionally people consider latex balloons are plastic items and therefore are associated with plastic litter this is untrue latex is not plastic it is organic made from the sap of rubber trees and is collected by a method of tapping that ensures the tree is not harmed and again latex balloons are completely biodegradable. research has shown thatlatex balloons decompose at a rate equal to or even faster an oak leaf under the same conditions

Our Release - Race tickets are an ideal time saver measuring approximately 68mm x 148mm haveing all the relevant details printed on the front they are also unique in being numbered 3 times with perforations enabling you to attach 1 piece to the balloon and give 1 piece to the buyer with the third piece for your records this saves a lot of time and work with spreadsheets that you would need with a 2 piece ticket
